Kalmar and Dublin Ferryport Terminals to enter ground-breaking cooperation in RTG automation

Cargo handling solutions provider Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is to extend its long-standing relationship with Dublin Ferryport terminals (DFT) with an order for Kalmar AutoRTG System. The order was booked in Cargotec's fourth quarter 2016 intake and delivery is scheduled to start during second quarter 2017.
Part of the container and terminal division of Irish Continental Group, DFT operates the most modern container terminal at Dublin Port.

Labeline International’s inaugural Biennial Dangerous Goods Roadshow

The first leg of Labeline International’s inaugural Biennial Dangerous Goods Roadshow got off to a flying start recently at the Sheraton Skyline, Heathrow. Next stop for the roadshow was the Hilton Hotel, East Midlands before the final leg at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Aberdeen. 

More than 200 people attended the three events and as the roadshow had a multimodal theme, it drew in a broad spectrum of delegates from across industry. There was an international flavour too, with attendees coming from USA, Latvia, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Hungary and Ireland.

Avro RJ jetliner in line to switch from passenger to freight service

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft is considering launching a passenger-to-freight conversion programme for the Avro RJ jetliner. The UK-based company is seeking customer feedback to help assess market potential.

The versatile RJ100 aircraft, which is capable of desert and unpaved runway operations, is beginning to come out of passenger service, so will be available from the end of 2017 for this conversion. The average price for this aircraft is between US $ 1-1.5 million and the freighter kit and conversion would cost between US$ 2.2 and 2.8 million. 

London Gateway to be supported by Hireco

One of the UK’s largest truck and trailer specialists is to work with DP World London Gateway to provide a support service to the UK’s newest deep-sea container terminal and its adjacent logistics park.

Hireco, a maintenance specialist for road haulage, will provide facilities for road hauliers using the logistics park with onsite ancillary services for their fleets, reducing transport costs and hauliers’ impacts on the environment.
