Investment pays dividends for AV Dawson
Following continued investment in its facilities, AV Dawson has welcomed the largest vessel to dock alongside its North Sea Supply Base in Middlesbrough.
Owned by SAL Heavy and measuring 160.5m by 27.9m with a deadweight of 12,501 tonnes, MV Lone is equipped with two large cranes that have a combined lift capacity of 2,000 tonnes. It was visiting Teesside to load materials destined for Singapore which will be used in the construction of another specialist vessel.
In December, the AV Dawson team also undertook the largest conventional cargo unloaded in its history, when Flinter Atlantic arrived at the quayside with 9,306 tonnes of maize, which was discharged was by the company’s Gottwald harbour cranes over a two day period.
Gary Dawson, Managing Director for AV Dawson has said “Having the MV Lone utilise our quayside demonstrates that the on-going investments made to increase and improve the capabilities of the quayside are being well received and are already paying off.
“This is a huge step forward not only for all of the team here at AV Dawson but also for the Teesside region as it highlights the growing capabilities of the area to service large industries around the world.”
