XPO Logistics delivers the Swatch Freeride World Tour 2016

Event logistics specialist, XPO Logistics, is providing the transport for the equipment used at all European stages of the 2016 Swatch Freeride World Tour for the first time.

The prestigious competition, which brings together the best freeride skiers and snowboarders in the world, began in Vallnord-Arcalís (Andorra) on 23 January.  The XPO Logistics teams, highly experienced in sporting events logistics, have been preparing throughout recent weeks to ensure a successful launch event.

To meet the challenges posed by a travelling competition at high altitude, XPO Logistics has designed a bespoke solution that guarantees the greatest possible safety during transport, loading and unloading.  For each event, experienced drivers will be behind the wheels of two dedicated vehicles specially fitted with snow tyres and chains, on-board MH25 forklifts and loading ramps suited to the event's operating conditions.

"XPO Logistics has developed unique expertise in transportation and logistics services for events, including major sporting competitions,” said Adil Houem, head of event transportation and logistics at XPO Logistics Europe.

“Our teams have provided vital support to the Tour de France and many other cycle races, such as the Paris-Roubaix race and the Arctic Race of Norway, as well as events such as the Paris Marathon, the French Football Cup (Coupe de France), and the Round France yacht race (Tour de France à la voile).

“Our bespoke solutions for each competition guarantee compliance with technical specifications, safety and the necessary deadlines – all key success factors – and we work closely with the event organisers to make sure that everything is in place and on schedule.  In special event management, there is no second chance.”

Jim Arlan, logistics manager for the Swatch Freeride World Tour, confirmed: "We chose XPO Logistics because of the in-depth knowledge of its dedicated event transportation and logistics team.

“XPO's ability to adapt to the logistical constraints of high-altitude resorts, using appropriate equipment and drivers who understand our challenges, also made a difference. We trust them entirely.”
