PEMA joins European ports and shipping industry alliance
The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA) has joined forces with 20 other organisations from across Europe to promote the interests of the ports and shipping sector in the context of EU policy initiatives.
Established by the Federation of European Private Port Operators and Terminals (FEPORT), the Industry Alliance for Multimodal Connectivity and Logistics (I AM) will focus on the logistics, cargo transport and handling, and freight service segments and “provide industry input to EU decision makers, TEN-T Corridor Coordinators and relevant EU agencies, operating on a coalition model, on topics where there is consensus”.
PEMA President Ottonel Popesco said: “As a major voice in the global ports and terminals sector, PEMA is delighted to be part of this vital initiative… with the intention to inform debate and policy making in areas such as competitiveness, efficiency, reliability, safety, security, and supply chain sustainability across Europe.”
I AM is set to decide on its priority areas at its inaugural annual plenary due to be held in the spring of 2017.
