Record breaking Multimodal looks forward to 2016
This year’s Multimodal again proved to be a record breaker. The eight-year-old show was attended by more than 8,500 supply chain decision makers who interacted with over 290 exhibitors at the Birmingham NEC.
Many of the visitors also took the opportunity to participate in three days of logistics master classes. Besides the 24 workshops, supported by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), the FTA, and The Loadstar, the show facilitated committee meetings and summits for some of the industry’s leading associations, including Leaders in Supply Chain, ELUPEG, and the Rail Freight Group.
Commenting on the success of this year’s event and looking ahead to 2016, Robert Jervis, Multimodal’s director, said: “We are proud to have expanded and developed the show and to continue to provide a platform for our industry to grow business, meet, learn and network.
“We are very pleased that so many people have already signed up to exhibit next year and we are already looking forward to welcoming even more logistics buyers in 2016.”
Hundreds of shippers, including Marks and Spencer, Jaguar Land Rover, and Boots, visited this year’s show, and many took advantage of the Shipper’s Village, a private space for freight buyers to meet suppliers.
TheMultimodal Awards featured two new categories, Young Logistics Professional, won by Joanne Dolan, and Woman of the Year, won by Bethany Forvargue.
The Co-operative Food was recognised for its carbon-busting switch to rail with the Award for Environmental Contribution, given in conjunction with the Freight Transport Association (FTA).
Malcolm Logistics won Exhibitor of the Year, whilst John Williams, CEO of Maritime Transport, was honoured as Personality of the Year.
We have been delighted with the positive feedback from the awards," confirmed Robert Jervis. “We will continue to innovate and grow the event for 2016.”
For this year’s gathering Multimodal also refreshed its image with a new logo and launched a new registration system, which harnessed the power of social media, and LinkedIn in particular, to help visitors, speakers and exhibitors to network and pre-book meetings.
Multimodal 2016 will take place from 10th to 12th May at the Birmingham NEC. The event is also moving to Halls 3 and 3A as it continues to expand – the 2015 event was five times larger than its initial launch year!
