NOVUS wins top supply chain accolade

The degree scheme designed to encourage tomorrow’s supply chain professionals, NOVUS, was the recipient of the Training and Professional Development category at the recent European Supply Chain Excellence Awards.

Andy Kaye and David Leach from NOVUS were joined on stage by students from the University of Huddersfield, where the scheme is operated, and its sponsors to receive the award, which was presented by Countdown host and Lord Sugar’s right-hand man on The Apprentice, Nick Hewer.

The accolade is recognition for the scheme created by Andy Kaye, Chair and founder of the Novus Trust and CEO and founder of recruitment and business consultancy BiS Henderson, to address the skills gap in the supply chain and logistics sector.

This is the second year in a row that the four-year sandwich logistics and supply chain degree scheme, which guarantees a job for successful graduates and attracts talent into the sector, has been shortlisted.

David Leach, NOVUS Programme Director, commented: “Winning in the Training and Professional Development category is a privilege and a pleasure.  NOVUS is all about the industry working together to enhance the professional development of young people and the award is great recognition of the efforts of a fantastic team of volunteers from across the industry.  Together we are making a real difference to the development and opportunities available for young people.”

Andy Kaye, Chair and founder of the NOVUS Trust added: “We are delighted to have received this prestigious award and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this important initiative the success that it is.

“With over 90 students and 30 sponsoring companies now in the scheme, we believe we have demonstrated how this industry can really pull together to create a sustainable solution to the serious issue of skills shortages in the supply chain and logistics sector.”

There are two NOVUS courses: BA (Hons) Business with Supply Chain Management and BSc (Hons) Logistics & Supply Chain Management – both are four-year sandwich courses accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK.
