Multimodal set to break records

Multimodal set to break records

The UK and Ireland’s leading free-to-attend supply chain event takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from the 28th to the 30th April.  Multimodal 2015 is also shaping up to set new records for both the numbers of exhibitors and attendees.  Last year’s gathering attracted more than 7,100 visitors and almost 300 exhibitors.

Now in its eighth year, Multimodal has clearly established itself as a must-attend fixture in shippers’ diaries.  Exhibitors represent every logistics sector – road, rail, aviation, maritime, warehousing and storage services.  In effect the event showcases the freight transport and logistics supply chain under one roof.

The Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (CILT) and the Freight Transport Association (FTA) are teaming up with Multimodal to deliver a three-day programme of panel debates, workshops, and seminars to tackle the big issues, look at legislation, showcase innovative products and ideas, and discuss examples of best practice.

Seminar topics include the challenges of omnichannel for retail, moving freight by water, and the future of rail freight, as well as financing the supply chain, and a look at how to measure carbon footprint.  In addition, The Loadstar will be hosting an airfreight pavilion and will chair a series of air cargo debates.

Multimodal will also offer a Shippers’ Village, giving freight buyers a private space to meet logistics suppliers, while the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) will again host a Pavilion on the exhibition floor.

Visitors can also take advantage of a number of key networking events, including the VIP dinner and awards’ evening at the National Motorcycle Museum.  More than 500 guests will enjoy a champagne reception and three-course meal, and hear from host Simon Weston OBE.  After last year’s successful launch event, the Multimodal Awards, will recognise and reward best-in-class.

A total of six awards will be handed out at the VIP dinner, including:

  • The Award for Contribution to Multimodal Development in conjunction with the CILT
  • The Award for Contribution to Environmental Sustainability in partnership with the FTA
  • The Woman of the Year Award in conjunction with Women in Logistics
  • The Multimodal Personality of the Year
  • The Multimodal Exhibitor of the Year
  • The Young Logistics Professional of the Year
