United Kingdom Warehousing Association’s new CEO Peter Ward

Health & Safety Event to host UKWA sprinkler debate

As part of the Safer Logistics Seminars at the Health & Safety Event, the United Kingdom Warehousing Association’s new CEO Peter Ward, will lead a panel session aimed at raising the issue of sprinklers in warehousing space.

The debate will focus on proposals to lower the threshold for the compulsory installation of automatic sprinklers in warehouses, which will be a matter of particular concern to smaller warehouse operators across the UK.

Having commissioned research to gain a clearer understanding of the implications for warehouse operators, UKWA believes that by working together with the Business Sprinkler Alliance as well as national and local government, workable solutions can be found to ensure that warehouses are not imposed with requirements that are too onerous.

“Safety is always at the top of the agenda for UKWA members,” explained Mr. Ward.

“So I am particularly pleased to have the opportunity in the Safer Logistics Seminars to discuss the important issues surrounding the installation of sprinklers in warehouses.”

The Health & Safety Event takes place at the NEC Birmingham on 24th-26th March.  The UKWA panel session is on the first day at 11.45am in The Safer Logistics Seminar Theatre and Feature Area.
