Eddie Stobart acquires largest warehouse to date

Transport and logistics company Eddie Stobart Ltd has acquired its largest warehouse to date.

The warehouse is located at the new Midlands Logistics Park (MLP) in Corby, Northamptonshire and was the first to be constructed on the park. At almost 850,000 square feet, it is already set to be one of the largest warehouse acquisitions of 2019.

Following on from an earlier pre-letting agreement, Eddie Stobart has taken a 20-year lease on the new premises. BPE Solicitors’ Alex Curtis, part of Eddie Stobart’s legal team, commented: “We are delighted to have worked with Eddie Stobart on this flagship acquisition. We have worked alongside them in numerous real estate transactions over the past few years and we are proud to be able to offer them the full spectrum of real estate legal advice on this and their other deals.”

Rupert Nichols, Director at Eddie Stobart, said: “As ever, the team at BPE brought professionalism and a clear understanding of our commercial objectives to guide us through this significant and very complex transaction.”

Eddie Stobart was the first tenant to commit to a new facility at MLP. The park  has direct access to the A43 dual carriageway, which has recently been upgraded and provides significantly improved access to the M1 southbound, M6 and A1(M).

MLP has already attracted a number of major occupiers including British Car Auctions, Morrisons, Matalan, Smyths Toys, Staples and Eddie Stobart’s iForce business.
