DSV aims to boost green credentials with multimodal UK-Spain service

Danish transport and logistics firm DSV is looking to boost its green credentials with a new multimodal service between the UK and Spain that utilises rail freight.

The daily service is designed to facilitate the movement of goods between the South and the Midlands in the UK to the Barcelona area of Spain via Calais and Boulou on the French/Spanish border. Offering a 'door-to-door' service, on arrival at Boulou, DSV will collect the trailer from the train and deliver directly to the customer.

DSV, who recently agreed a merger deal with Panalpina, said the full-load service provides a more economical and sustainable solution.

Denise Clarke, DSV Senior Director, commented:  “We have trialled the route over the past few weeks and as we continuously monitor our carbon footprint, emissions and energy efficiencies, it is evident that utilising rail will make a positive impact on the environment and at the same time we can offer our customer a better price.”
